The Eads Bridge, St. Louis, Missouri
|
I guess I kinda have a
thing for eerie
architecture. Both of
these were taken
during the day. The sky
was extremely boring.
So, in order to get
some texture in the sky,
I did an "image overlay"
with my Nikon D200.
Image overlay involves
taking two photos and
placing one over the
other. Then I did sepia
for both. I love sepia. I
tend to overuse
it.........oh well. I think it
works for these. They
remind me of old
postcards.
This is the Union Light and Power Building in
downtown St. Louis. I loved this building the
minute I saw it. I caught a glimpse of it for
the first time right around dusk. It was a sight
to behold!! However, because of time issues
I could not photograph it at dusk. I went back
the next day to photograph it and the
ambiance was very different in daylight. So I
did the image overlay trick again . The sky
overlay was taken at dusk on my way home
somewhere in Arkansas. I bumped the
saturation up to get the orange color, it was
originally a pink tint with lots of gray and
purple. One day I will get back and get the
shot of this building that I really want!!!
These were taken at the "Chain of Rocks" Bridge. Half of it is in St. Louis and the
other half is in Madison, Illinois. The bridge is closed to traffic but is now the end
of a biking and hiking trail. It was part of the famous Route 66. There are so
many interesting things about this bridge. It has a bend in the middle, there has
been horrible murders on the bridge, the water below is too shallow for boats, it
has a rocky bottom, and then there are 2 water intake towers for the nearby dam.
You can also see the arch in the distance. This is an awesome spot.
Both of these photos are of the
Chester Bridge in Chester, Illinois.
It is an excellent photographic
subject.(like most bridges)
This one is a random roadside sight. I
just liked the tree.
